Cinnamon, also known as Cinnamomum verum, is a tree native to Sri Lanka. The bark of the tree is used for medicinal and culinary purposes. Cinnamon has been traditionally used to help improve digestion, and to help reduce symptoms of bloating, gas, and indigestion, it is believed to have carminative properties. It is also traditionally used to help improve blood sugar control, and to help reduce symptoms of diabetes, it is believed to have hypoglycemic properties. Cinnamon is also believed to have anti-inflammatory properties and may help to protect cells from damage. It is also believed to have antimicrobial properties and may help to protect against bacterial and fungal infections.
