Turmeric root, also known as Curcuma longa, is a perennial herb native to tropical regions of southern Asia. The root of the plant is used for medicinal and culinary purposes. Turmeric is known for its high content of curcumin, a compound with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has been traditionally used to help reduce symptoms of pain, particularly in the joints, and to help reduce symptoms of arthritis and rheumatism, it is believed to have anti-inflammatory properties.
